Two companies of distinction – one dealing in technology, the other specialising in jewellery – have teamed up to create a truly unique product. The collaboration between Microsoft and the Damiani group has resulted in two new luxury limited edition covers for the current flagship Windows Mobile 10, Lumia 950.
The covers are embellished with diamonds and gold, inspired by the iconic D.Side collection which was designed by Valenzano goldsmiths with Brad Pitt, who at the time endorsed the Damiani brand. The two concentric gold rings are linked by brilliant cut diamonds set in special crescent-shaped settings in order to create an attractive, elegant effect. Each cover features a plate made from white or rose gold, with an engraving of the exclusive limited edition number; indeed, only 99 examples per type have been created.
Along with the cover, the customer also buys the Lumia 950 – the embodiment of cutting-edge technology, with an elegant yet contemporary design. This is a one-of-a-kind product, and is able to satisfy every requirement, from both a technological point of view as well as from an aesthetic perspective. Giorgio Damiani himself, Vice-President of Damiani, said: “We are very proud to offer our customers a mobile phone that has the ability to turn into a jewel for life, as well as a dedicated after-sales service provided by our business partner“.
Indeed, it’s no problem if the device needs to be replaced: simply return the cover to the store where it was purchased, and receive a pendant from the d.Side collection in return. Handmade by master goldsmiths of Valenza and designed to ensure that the device functions perfectly, these exclusive covers are only available to purchase at Damiani boutiques.
This project further strengthens the collaboration between Damiani and Microsoft. In recent months, Damiani has given its support to the Nuvola Rosa (Pink Cloud) project, an initiative launched by Microsoft to help girls to pursue technical and scientific careers. In order to offer even more sophisticated products, there are also several other projects in the pipeline, resulting from the relationship between Damiani and Microsoft, as explained by Carlo Purassanta, CEO of Microsoft Italy: “In the future we want to explore the opportunity of launching other products with Damiani, such as the smartwatch. We believe the market is not yet ripe for this product, but it will definitely take off over the next five to ten years. We will do something when the time is right.”
