KmZero, Brioni’s new capsule collection from Abruzzo

Category:

A new recipe for sustainability is coming from Brioni, who has launched a capsule collection for next winter totally made in the Abruzzo region, where the men’s high fashion brand is rooted.

The four items of the collection are exclusively made of wool extracted from sheep bred in Abruzzo, hence the collection name “KmZero”. The cutting and ironing processes are also carried out in the region, at Brioni’s historic factory located in Penne.

The facilities opened in 1959, when founders Nazareno Fonticoli and Gaetano Savini decided to leave Rome and move to that small town in the province of Pescara, where they had met, to create one of the most successful partnerships in the history of fashion thanks to Fonticoli’s tailoring expertise and Savini’s managerial skills.

The intermediate step of wool processing and refinement is the only one taking place outside the region, in Fratelli Piacenza’s factory   ̶ a long-standing woolen mill in Biella, Piedmont, partnering with Brioni in this and other projects.

Featuring  a bomber jacket, a trench coat and a suit, this limited edition will be available for purchase starting from next September in the brand’s 56 dedicated boutiques (30 of which are directly operated).

The KmZero collection is part of the wider “Autoctonie” project, promoted by local companies in collaboration with Confindustria of Chieti and Pescara in order to encourage Abruzzo’s producers to develop their own sustainable strategies.

Founded in 1945 and part of the French luxury group Kering since 2011, Brioni has always been synonymous with masculine elegance, and is now distributing its products on the wholesale channel through 192 resellers.
