An event that combines automotive passion and natural beauty.
Italy is home to thousands of enchanting villages, such as Portofino, Amalfi and Taormina, which are internationally renowned, but countless others also deserve a visit. Events like the Historical Reenactment of the Presolana Cup provide the perfect opportunity to discover the social, economic, cultural, artistic and even gastronomic treasures that might otherwise remain unknown.
Organized for the first time in 1929, the Presolana Cup is considered the forerunner of the car races that, throughout the last century, took full advantage of the unique terrain and roads, have populated the Orobie mountains and sparked the passion of enthusiasts. The original route started in the heart of Bergamo and made its way to the Presolana Pass, traversing through Seriate, Rovere and Boario. In the 1950s, with the rise of “Sport Prototype” cars, the race evolved into a hill climb starting in Dezio. By the 1970s, the course became even shorter and faster, starting from Presolana and finishing at the Presolana Pass.
The event, today, thanks to its many strengths, has become an unmissable rendezvous for regularity race enthusiasts from all over Italy, thanks to its timing—when most associations have already concluded their annual activities; its locations, with an itinerary that showcases the breathtaking early winter landscapes of the Prealps and Orobie Alps, where the first snow contrasts with the late green of the meadows, amidst the characteristic foliage and the cold light of the solstice days; and its unique charm, a one-of-a-kind event that remains true to its origins but is continuously renewed, offering participants surprises and new experiences.
The event, included in the ASI National Calendar, is a reenactment event, and for this edition, it featured 65 time trials. These were reserved for vintage cars with a Historic Relevance Certificate and divided into two categories: one dedicated exclusively to regularity, and a “Relax” category that, in addition to the essential time trials, allowed crews to enjoy the Spa at the Hotel Milano in Castione della Presolana, the dinner and the tourist-competitive itinerary, with the final 10 tests.
The overall winners were Riboldi/Lombardi (Fiat 508 C), who claimed the Coppa della Presolana. Fontanella/Covelli (Lancia Aprilia) secured the Banca Patrimoni Sella and Banca Galileo Trophies, while the all-female team of Gauita/Gauita (Lancia Fulvia Coupé) won the “Coppa delle Dame.”
