Interview with Guido Polito, CEO of Baglioni Hotels, to learn about the hospitality style of the group’s new resort in the Maldivian archipelago.

In the splendid setting of the Carlton Baglioni hotel, Excellence Magazine meets an example of excellence, Mr. Guido Polito, CEO of the Baglioni group, to talk about the latest resort opened in the Maldives.

We opened the new resort in August, and it is a source of great pride for us; after the one in London, it is our first project abroad to be reopened. A long and demanding project located on a virgin island, built with the utmost respect for the environment and its preservation, so that the relationship with nature becomes a distinctive trait of our customers’ experience. We have created a luxury resort, simple and elegant at the same time, as a constant example of Made in Italy: from the service, to the staff, to the highest level of gastronomy.

After the Maldives, what other challenges abroad are you planning to face?

We are looking to the future: the next destinations could be New York, Paris and the Middle East, but we are not forgetting about Italy, where a couple of new destinations would complete the group’s geographical presence in the country.

Why does your Maldives project have such a strong Italian vibe, despite it being a destination for the international public?

In the Maldives, we have tried to export the Italian soul that characterizes the DNA of all our hotels, which is based on four main pillars: culture, hospitality, food, and our staff and welcome service, which is able to be empathetic towards our clients while always maintaining a very high level of professionalism.

This is what makes the difference. Importing this philosophy to the Maldives was a great success for us, highlighted by several partnerships with Italian brands that have further expanded our Italian vibe, including: Cassina as room designer, Frette for linen, MC2 Saint Barth for beachwear and Ferrari Trento for the aperitif, an essential moment for our Italian culture that, today, is available to all our customers in the Maldives.
