Moncler: Global Sustainability Champion in the ‘Textiles, Apparel & Luxury Goods’ sector


Moncler, the luxury duvet brand has been elected for the second consecutive year global sustainability champion in the ‘Textiles, Apparel & Luxury Goods’ sector by the Dow Jones Sustainability Index.

The award “testifies to how sustainability is increasingly a strategic asset for Moncler’s development. A commitment to all stakeholders, a moral duty to our children and the future of all ”, explains a note from the company.

The judgment of the DJSI follows the launch of the new ‘Moncler Born to Protect’ social responsibility project by Moncler, which focuses on five strategic priorities: climate change, circular economy, responsible supply chain, enhancement of diversity and support for local communities.

In particular, the company wants to reduce its environmental impact through the achievement of carbon neutrality, the recycling of production waste, the widespread use of green nylon and the elimination of single-use plastic.

Furthermore, it will start recycling down certified according to the Dist Protocol based on an innovative mechanical process that allows water savings of about 70% compared to traditional down recycling. The plan also provides for the traceability of raw materials and the continuous improvement of social and environmental standards along the supply chain and aims to protect 100,000 children and families in vulnerable situations from the cold.

Moncler uses 100% renewable energy in Italy and in the production center in Romania and in the three-year period 2017-19 it reduced direct Co2 emissions by 30%. 90% of the product packaging is made with sustainable materials, while 100% of the outerwear production chain is verified by a third party on ethical and social aspects.

The brand has gradually introduced low-impact fabrics and accessories (recycled, bio-based) in the collections and since 2015 100% of the feathers it buys are traced and certified according to the Dist.
