The eighth edition of the Venice Hospitality Challenge was presented today at the Hilton Molino Stucky. The famous regatta, the one and only sailing competition that takes place entirely in the heart of the city, is part of the celebrations for the 1600 years of the long and significant past of the Serenissima that has crossed the ages enriching itself with unparalleled history, art and traditions.
Reserved only for maxi yachts at the invitation of the Yacht Club Venezia, the regatta will see sixteen famous boats lined up on the starting line led by internationally renowned skippers who will fight until the last gust of wind on the racing field to conquer the victory and the coveted Doge’s hat, specially made this year by the historic Ars Cenedese glass factory in Murano which counts among its customers the most important royal families in the world.
The last edition of the Venice Hospitality Challenge ended with the Overall and Class 1 victory of Portopiccolo Prosecco Doc – Hilton Molino Stucky, skipper Claudio Demartis and helmed by Stefano Cherin.
The welcome cocktail “The city meets the skippers” will be held on Friday 15 October at 6.00 pm at the Terrazza Aperol in Campo S. Stefano. On Saturday 16 October the water jets of the Panfido tugs will mark the departure of the boats at about 1.30pm, the first part of the regatta will take place from San Marco towards the Lido with a turning point positioned between the Lido and Sant’Elena, and then return in front of the Giudecca up to the Hilton Molino Stucky with another turning point, and finally continue until the finish, again in the San Marco basin. At the end of the regatta, around 4.30 pm, the prize-giving ceremony will take place at the Zattere at the VYP Venice Yacht Pier. The public will be able to follow the regatta from the banks of the San Marco basin, from Punta della Dogana, Giudecca and Zattere. The event will take place in accordance with current health regulations.
