The Dreesmann collection of Picasso is now offered on the art market.
After London, Paris and New York, it is the Ward Moretti Gallery in Monaco which is exhibiting the incredible collection of Pieter and Olga Dreesmann. This Dutch collector couple has dedicated themselves, for 25 years, to bringing together some 32 works on paper, ceramic and bronze offering a superb retrospective of Picasso. From the beginning of the last century, with this portrait of his friend Carlos Casagemas. The one who committed suicide for Germaine. Germaine who subsequently became Picasso’s muse, beginning the start of his blue period. From this fascinating sketch for the expression of Dora Maar, another muse of Picasso. Until this painting, The Couple, in pencil and black ink, produced in 1960, the same year that he created Déjeuner sur l’Herbe inspired by Manet.

James Roundell, the expert who advised and supported the Dreesmann for 25 years in the acquisition of these 32 works, confided his sweet dream to Excellence Magazine to see the entire collection sold. It will certainly be different; some paintings have already been sold.

If the acquisition of Picasso’s paintings is only accessible by a few foundations and museums – Les femmes d’Alger reached the astronomical sum of 147 million Euros – the drawings are still accessible, to a certain extent.
In any case, as James Roundell pointed out “You can’t make a mistake buying a Picasso”.
