An enchanting atmosphere with special events and holiday traditions.
Anantara Convento di Amalfi Grand Hotel, nestled in the breathtaking 13th-century former Capuchin convent perched on the cliffs of the Amalfi Coast, is the only five-star hotel in the area to remain open during the end-of-year holidays.
Ranked among the “100 Most Beautiful Places in the World” by TIME, Anantara invites guests into an enchanting atmosphere, where every corner of the hotel sparkles with exquisite Christmas decorations and lights. The heart of the hotel, the Convent’s cloister, will be adorned with decorations and hundreds of cascading lights, creating a mesmerizing sight and an enchanted atmosphere. At its center, a large brazier will invite guests to unwind by the warmth of the fire, from December 6th to January 6th, enjoying marshmallows and traditional Italian panettone paired with hot chocolate.
The festive calendar is filled with events, including tailor-made experiences that explore the local area and traditions, relaxing and rejuvenating treatments at the Anantara Spa, and gourmet tasting menus crafted by Executive Chef Claudio Lanuto. The official start to the holiday season will take place on December 6th with a spectacular Christmas tree lighting ceremony in the historic cloister, led by Anantara’s expert, Fra Marcus. However, the celebrations will begin earlier, with the traditional Thanksgiving dinner on November 28th.
For guests, the hotel offers a range of unique local experiences, including the “Masterclass on Amaro dei Cappuccini.” This sensory journey, led by Fra Marcus, explores the history of the monks and the herbs used to create medicinal liqueurs, complemented by a tasting of Italian amari and canapés crafted by Chef Lanuto. Additionally, from January 7th to 11th, 2025, guests can join “Cooking Classes”, where they will learn how to creatively repurpose Christmas leftovers into delicious meals for the whole family.
From December 6th to 8th, the Convent’s cloister will host the traditional Christmas market, showcasing local holiday traditions with handmade crafts and regional delicacies— a wonderful opportunity to find unique gifts or enjoy a warming cup of mulled wine. On December 7th, a very special guest, Santa Claus, will visit, bringing gifts and joy to the children, who can also write their letters to him.
From December 6th to January 6th, between 3:30 PM and 5:00 PM, the iconic Dei Cappuccini Bar will offer a Festive Afternoon Tea, an Amalfi-style tea that combines local pastries with savory delights, including Neapolitan pastiera, lemon cake, buttery focaccine, local anchovies, Gragnano panuozzo (a traditional Campanian product), and bruschette.
