History and elegance on Lake Maggiore, from September 5th to 8th, 2024.

Beauty, history and classicism. It will be possible to experience all this at the Carlo Riva Trophy, organized from September 5th to 8th, 2024 on Lake Maggiore on the occasion of the reopening of the historic Marina di Lisanza, a tourist port 60 kilometers from Milan with 100 berths, both internal and external, for boats up to 16 meters long.

“The rebirth of the Marina di Lisanza represents the culmination of my life as an entrepreneur and a great enthusiast of historic boats and classic cars”. Thus declared the Milanese Massimo Sordi, Knight and Commander of the Italian Republic, who after more than half a century dedicated to his companies in the medical sector has decided to take over and return one of the most beautiful nautical-accommodation facilities in the Verbano area to the community.

After the interventions carried out over the last 6 months, the Lisanza Marina, once the private residence of the aeronautical entrepreneur Corrado Agusta, is preparing to welcome the inaugural event, open to the historic motorboats of the Riva shipyard and those designed by Carlo Riva. Motorboats from the Riva shipyard built after 1980 will be accepted subject to availability.

Sordi himself is the owner of Akimura, a splendid 1967 Riva Aquarama Super with which he will participate in the event. “It was a great project,” he stated, “which could not have been realized without the support of precious collaborators such as the architects Federico Molina and Giovanni De Fernex, of the Fimesa president Ernesto Benedetti, of Pierangelo Amigoni and his team of workers, of the expert mechanic and motorist Angelo Falzone”. But above all it was Sordi’s wife, Elena du Chène de Vère, who took on this challenge and revitalized the former villa by recalling the glories of historical motorboating with period documentation. The Club House could also become a meeting place for all members of the Riva Club Lago Maggiore.

The Carlo Riva Trophy is organized by the Riva Society Italia, the Riva Club Lago Maggiore and the Riva Club Suisse with the support of the Riva Historical Society, the association founded in Milan in 1998 which protects and spreads the culture of the most famous wooden motorboats of the world, today presided over by the architect Piero Gibellini.

On this occasion, the 25 years of the Riva Club Lago Maggiore will also be celebrated, of which Massimo Sordi was president in the past, while since 2010 the highest position has been held by the lawyer Piero Tovaglieri from Busto Arsizio.

There will be no shortage of vintage cars at the event, a great passion that Sordi experiences firsthand through his Scuderia Mediolanum (born in 1955 and brought back to life in 1987) and with his friends from Club Italia, both present in those days at the Marina of Lisanza. There were 1430 trophies won over the decades by him and his family and today the Cavaliere is considered one of the most important Italian collectors of sports cars.

Among the partners of the event are the Italian Motorboating Federation, CONI, the ASI Automotoclub Storico Italiano, Frederique Constant and Vitale Barberis Canonico.
